The RK DJ Story
At RK DJ, we specialise in providing a professional and reliable entertainment service for Weddings, Parties and Corporate Events across Dumfries & Galloway. Established over ten years ago, we have performed at a huge number of Weddings and Events across the region and beyond, but where did it all begin? In this blog, we will tell you a little about the history of RK DJ and how we have ended up where we are today.
It all started in 2007 with a love for music and flashing lights. After buying some disco lighting online and digging out a sound system we had in the house, I put together a small disco setup in my parents living room. Whilst this was great for the first couple of weeks, my parents soon got fed up with me constantly practicing at full volume!
Around a week later, I got a phone call from a member of the Dalbeattie Primary School PTA. Their DJ had let them down for the school’s Halloween Disco the following evening and she had heard I was just starting up. Just like that, I had my first gig and RK DJ was born!
For the next year or so I continued to provide discos for school events, friend’s parties and family events. Then, in late 2008, I DJ’d my first Wedding. It was a small Wedding for a lovely couple in Creetown, but it was the beginning of something big for RK DJ.
As they say, the rest is history.
Even now, ten years on, I still get that buzz leading up to an event just like I did at my first Wedding. I believe this passion and commitment is essential to delivering a truly professional Wedding DJ service and these qualities are as strong today as they were back then.
