What’s Trending and What’s Next for 2025

As a Wedding DJ in Dumfries and Galloway, we see firsthand how the most requested Wedding songs of 2024 bring people together on the dancefloor. Using our Online Planner, couples, party hosts, and guests can share their song requests before the big day. These pre-event picks provide a fascinating insight into the tracks shaping Weddings and Events throughout the year.

So, what were the most requested songs of 2024? And how do they differ from 2023? Let’s dive into the music trends that dominated this year and our predictions for 2025.

2024: The Year of Nostalgia and New Influences

At the top of the list once again was Mr. Brightside by The Killers. Love it or hate it, this anthem continues to dominate Weddings. It’s no secret that Mr. Brightside is overplayed, but there’s no denying its power when timed just right—it still manages to get people belting out the lyrics and jumping on the dancefloor.

What made 2024 different, though, were some surprising comebacks. Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder on the Dancefloor returned with a bang, thanks to that famous final scene in Saltburn. Meanwhile, Natasha Bedingfield’s Unwritten found its way onto playlists, fueled by its resurgence on TikTok and its feature in the rom-com Anyone But You. These tracks brought a wave of nostalgia and fun, proving that music from the early 2000s still resonates with couples and their guests.

Taylor Swift continued to make a big impact in 2024, with the ongoing buzz from her Eras Tour keeping her music in the spotlight. Songs like Love Story and Shake It Off brought a mix of modern romance and high-energy fun to Wedding playlists, showcasing her global dominance.

Looking Ahead: What Will 2025 Sound Like?

So, what’s next? Based on the trends we’re seeing, 2025 is shaping up to be a year of personality-packed playlists.

The pop-punk revival is in full swing, with songs like Blink-182’s All The Small Things and Wheatus’ Teenage Dirtbag making regular appearances. Arctic Monkeys’ I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor is another track gaining traction – it’s the perfect mix of energy and nostalgia for any party.

Oasis is also making waves ahead of their highly anticipated reunion tour in 2025. Timeless classics like Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back in Anger are already Wedding staples, but their renewed relevance is sure to bring even more of their iconic hits back into rotation.

Disco Fever isn’t going anywhere either. Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s recent success has solidified tracks like Murder on the Dancefloor as must-plays, encouraging more couples to embrace the glamour and infectious energy of disco-inspired tunes.

Feel-good anthems continue to bring all generations together on the dancefloor. Songs like Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now and Earth, Wind & Fire’s September remain crowd-pleasers, their timeless appeal ensuring they’re here to stay. These tracks are the heart of a party, creating moments everyone can enjoy, no matter their age or musical taste.

And, of course, Taylor Swift’s influence on Wedding music isn’t slowing down. Her mix of heartfelt ballads and high-energy hits fits seamlessly into every stage of a Wedding day, making her a key feature of modern playlists.

What’s On Your Playlist?

What makes a great Wedding playlist? It’s not just about the most popular tracks or what’s trending this year -it’s about what feels right for you. Every couple is different, and every Wedding playlist is unique.

One couple’s must-play might be another’s do-not-play, and that’s where our Online Planner comes in. It lets you share the songs you love, the ones you’d rather skip, and even the tracks you think your guests will enjoy. What Customers Said...

Myself and my partner Ryan can’t thank Ross enough for being part of our special day.

He was our piper for guests arriving, our ceremony and during our photos. He did an absolutely amazing job and the sound of the pipes was absolutely incredible a special part of our day that we will always remember.

Ross then was our DJ at night after our meal and he accommodated all our song requests to the best of his abilities and also has a do not play section for any songs that may be hard to hear on your special day which I think is a fantastic feature!

Ross was in constant contact which put us at ease and was absolutely incredible with moving our date following the pandemic postponing our original 2020 date and did this without taking additional cost or without question.

Everyone had a fantastic night and Ross also took some lovely photos of our guests and ourselves dancing at night which I thought was a lovely last touch.

If you are considering Ross at all we would highly recommend he is both an incredible piper and DJ, very reasonably priced for his time and what he brings to your day and just an all round lovely guy!

Thanks again Ross 😊

Hi Ross, You were amazing. We couldn't have had a better piper/DJ! We had so many compliments about you from our guests and the ceilidh was fantastic! When we told people we were having it they said they wouldn't participate but they did! Thank you so so much - we want to do the party again. You were great with dealing with my last minute disorganised requests (i.e cake cutting and throwing the bouquet!) can't put in words how great it all was. You even catered for my Dutch family. Can't thank you enough!

Ross played at our wedding at Springkell and was absolutely fantastic. Even before our wedding, he seamlessly coordinated our schedule, had an easy-to-use system, and much appreciated payment process. On our wedding day, he was friendly, and even got our 35-person wedding dancing for hours! We had some last minute schedule changes that he rolled with easily, making adjustments and continuing to play a great mix of music all night, from wedding classics to modern hits that all ages enjoyed. Every song that we requested was played and he interspersed our requests seamlessly. The dance floor was hopping all night. The lighting, especially the stars, were also a huge hit! Thank you Ross for making this American couples' wedding day perfect.

We cant recommend RK DJ enough. Ross was the DJ at our wedding and our only request was that the dance floor wasn't empty and everyone had a great night and Ross didn't disappoint with this. Through the planning of the event to the actual evening, Ross was always on hand and very friendly. There was something for everyone - including some ceilidh dances and even some dirty dancing! If you are looking to book a DJ for an event don't hesitate in booking RK DJ. We couldn't have wished for a better night and our guests have all commented on how great Ross was! Would definitely recommend and book again! Thanks again for an incredible night Ross!

Thank you so much Ross for piping at our wedding ceremony. Not only did you sound great on the day but you were also so helpful when we had to re-think our plans. Great customer service and will certainly recommend. Thank you again & all the best for 2021.
